Some of my favorite sessions are the ones that feel like a reunion. This family and I first met when their sweet boy was just days old, when he was all tiny yawns and sleepy newborn snuggles. A few months later, they invited me back to capture where they are now: a family of two turned three, settling into the rhythm of life with a baby who's suddenly got opinions, giggles, and the best chunky little legs.
We spent the evening at Thomas Farm Preserve in Watkinsville, and honestly, it couldn't have been a better fit. The tall golden grass, the open field, and the soft evening light gave us this relaxed, unposed feel that matched exactly where this family is right now. Finding their routine, their village, and their flow.

Grandparents, Siblings, and All the In-Between Moments

What made this session extra special was who showed up for it. It wasn't just mom, dad, and baby, but grandparents and siblings as well, all soaking up time with the newest member of the family. There's something about watching a grandmother reach for her grandson's tiny feet, or a group of siblings cracking up together in a field, that you just can't fake. My favorite shots from this gallery aren't the perfectly posed ones, but the in-between moments. The laughing, the baby reaching for someone's face, the way everyone naturally leans in toward that little guy like he's the star of the show (because, let's be honest, he is).

Why I Love Sessions Like This

Getting to work with this family for a second time, at a completely different stage, is exactly why I love what I do. I got to celebrate this little one's arrival as a newborn, and now I got to celebrate him as a smirky, snuggly 3-month-old surrounded by the people who love him most. Growing with my clients, watching their families grow, and being trusted to document their journey along the way, is one of my absolute favorite parts of being a photographer. It's not just one photo session; it's a relationship that keeps unfolding, one chapter at a time.
If you're local to Watkinsville, Athens, or the surrounding area and thinking about documenting your own family's next chapter, whether that's newborn days, a 6-month milestone, or just because it's been a while since you all had photos together, I'd love to be part of it.
